The history of this wonderful property dates back to 1895 when Jacques Mondon acquired several vineyards in the parish of Cissac-Medoc and combined them to form Chateau Cissac. In 1940 Jacques Grandson, Louis Vialard inherited the property and now it is in the capable hands of Louis' Granddaughter Marie, who together with Chief Wine Maker, Laurant Saint Pasteur, continue to take these award-winning wines from strength to strength.On the nose blackcurrants, Kirsch with notes of cigar box. On the palate, the wine is medium bodied with layers of ripe fruits and nicely integrated tannins, a great freshness and an elegant finish, a classic Cissac and a classic Cru Bourgeois. Size of the vineyard : 50 hectares made up of fine gravel over chalk, planted with 7200 vines per hectare.Average annual production : 220,000 bottles Grape varieties : 75 % Cabernet Sauvignon 20% Merlot 5% Petit Verdot.Average age of vines : 30 year old root stock. Harvesting 100% by hand. Wine-making: Thermo regulated fermentation in oak vats for up to 3 weeks, aging for between 18-20 months in French oak barrels, 35% of which are new.
