Domaine A Cabernet Sauvignon 2001

Quick Overview

17pts - Jancis Robinson

94pts - Jeremy Oliver

"Healthy fruit but with wet-stony aspect to it. Lots to chew on – with a strong menthol note. Quite different from the 1997 and 1998 – much more austere – more press wine perhaps? Ambitious. Almost too severe – a bit Las Cases-like! Very drying finish" - Jancis Robinson

"A long, firm & cedary cabernet likely to become deeper, more profound & impactful before it becomes finer & more elegant with longer cellaring. It opens with a dusty fragrance of cedar, mulberries & ripe black and red berries before revealing nuances of mint, dried herbs & chocolate/vanilla oak. Firm, tight & powdery, its slightly sour-edged palate of dark berry/plum flavours, fine-grained oak & meaty, lightly reductive complexity finishes with mineral undertones."  - Jeremy Oliver
