Organic grenache wine is defined as wine made from grapes grown in accordance with the respective defining principles of organic farming, which typically excludes the use of artificial chemical fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides and herbicides. The legal definition of organic grenache wine varies from country to country. 3. Ch. Gigognan 'Vignes du Prieure' Rouge (Organic & Bio-Dynamic) 2016

In the heart of Southern France's Rhone Valley, about ten minutes from Chateauneuf du Pape, between Avignon and Orange, lies Chateau Gigognan, a vineyard whose winemaking tradition has roots that can be traced back deep into the history of the region. In 1987 Anne and Jacques Callet became the new owners of the Clos du Roi domain. Inspired by a passion for the history of the property, in 1990 they began a complete renovation of the Chateau in the traditional provencale country-house style, to return it to its former aristocratic glory. In 1996 work began on a new better-equipped cellar. An organically-farmed vineyard: having made the decision to convert their thirty hectares of Chateauneuf du Pape and forty-two hectares of Cotes du Rhone to organic-farming, the vineyard was awarded ECOCERT certification in 2009.

Clos de Roi Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc: 45% Roussanne,  35 % Clairette, 10% Bourboulenc & 10% Marsanne.

  5. Ch. de Maris 'Les Planels' 2014

92pts - Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate

"A killer value is the 2014 Les Planels. Made from Syrah, Carignan & Grenache that was completely destemmed (as are all of the releases form Chateau Maris), it shows a darker, smokier profile to go with notions of cassis, scorched earth, graphite & earth on the nose. Aged 12 months in barrel, followed by six months in concrete, it has solid mid-palate density, nicely integrated acidity, excellent overall balance & a clean, dry finish..." - Robert Parker
